How to choose a 0 Apr Credit Card?

Zero percent apr cards are good to eliminate some debt and buy some time while avoiding higher interest.  It has helped me in my toughest time.  Usually these cards offer zero percent apr for set time limit which vary from first 6 to 12 billing cycles.  So if you are financially disciplined, in this time you can essentially use this money at no interest and use it wisely and then payoff balance before the real apr at higher rate kicks in.

To obtain zero percent apr credit card, you should have reasonably good FICO score which most of the lenders look at before granting you credit.  You should always look at fine prints and  legal notices before you sign up for any cards.

Ideal zero percent (0% apr) should have following:

-Zero percent apr for atleast 6-12 billing cycle
-No balance transfer fee or Low transaction fee
-Reasonably low apr after 0% apr is over
-Good customer service
-The card should not use 2 cycle average daily balance

One important point; once your zero percent credit card time limit is over, pick up a phone and call customer service division and politely request to speak to account manager and request increasing the time for zero percent apr.  He may not agree for zero percent but may provide low interest rate.

Remember, smart people actually do use this to their advantage.  Even if they do not need money or do not have debt, they borrow at zero percent apr and put that money in bank cd and earn interest on that.

Now that is smart...
